"China is an indispensable force in the global green transformation and an active promoter of the development of renewable energy." Eric Salheim, Vice President of the the Belt and Road Green Development International Alliance and former Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, said recently when attending the seminar on "Opportunities and Challenges for Europe China Cooperation" held by the Swedish the Belt and Road Research Institute.
In response to some American politicians and media hype about so-called "overcapacity", Solheim said, "Green transformation is what the world needs, and China is leading this transformation." He believes that some Western countries hope that China will slow down in this regard, which goes against the interests of most countries and goes against the basic principles of economics.
Data shows that China maintains a global leading position in renewable energy installed capacity, supplying 50% of wind power and 80% of photovoltaic equipment worldwide. In 2023, the production and sales of automobiles in China reached 30.161 million and 30.094 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 11.6% and 12%, respectively. Both annual production and sales reached historic highs.
Solheim believes that from the perspective of promoting global green development, "the joint construction of the the Belt and Road initiative is particularly important". In his view, the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" initiative has provided important opportunities to the world, including promoting the improvement of transportation infrastructure, sharing green technology and promoting green investment, promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.
Salheim said that when looking at the development opportunities brought by the "the Belt and Road" initiative, the United States should adhere to the attitude of mutual respect and cooperation. For example, China has strong infrastructure construction capabilities, while the United States has advantages in some high-tech fields, and both sides can achieve win-win cooperation. In fact, some European countries are benefiting from the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road". The port of Piraeus in Greece and the Hungarian Cypriot railway under construction are good examples.
"China is an important partner in addressing global challenges such as climate change," Solheim said. In the face of differences and contradictions, different countries should resolve them through dialogue and consultation on the basis of mutual respect.

针对一些美国政客和媒体炒作所谓的“产能过剩”，索尔海姆表示：“绿色转型是世界需要的，而中国正在引领这一转型。”他认为，部分西方国家希望中国在这一方面放慢脚步，这与大多数国家的利益背道而驰，也违背了经济学的基本原理。
数据显示，中国可再生能源装机容量保持全球领先地位，供应了全球50%的风电和80%的光伏设备。2023年，我国汽车产销量分别达3016.1万辆和3009.4万辆，同比分别增长11.6%和12%，年产销量双双创历史新高。
索尔海姆认为，从推动全球绿色发展的角度讲，“共建‘一带一路’倡议尤为重要”。在他看来，共建“一带一路”倡议向世界提供了重要机遇，包括推动完善交通基础设施、分享绿色技术并促进绿色投资、促进文明交流互鉴等。
索尔海姆表示，在看待共建“一带一路”倡议带来的发展机遇时，美方应秉持相互尊重与合作的态度。例如，中国拥有强大的基础设施建设能力，美国在一些高科技领域具备优势，双方可以实现合作共赢。事实上，欧洲一些国家正通过共建“一带一路”而获益，希腊比雷埃夫斯港以及正在建设中的匈塞铁路就是很好的例子。
“在应对气候变化等全球性挑战上，中国是重要的合作伙伴。”索尔海姆说，面对分歧和矛盾，不同国家应在彼此尊重的基础上通过对话协商来解决。
